Does Mechanical Maintenance Become a Business Expense?

 Mechanical and technical maintenance is one of the prime expenses for a business. By adopting the proper procedure, you can make mechanical maintenance one of your business assets by increasing the performance of the production process.

Place the valves according to their specification:

Try to install valves relative to their scope as installing beyond their capacity can be a maintenance expense. Electronic pressure regulator valves have various temperatures and pressure ranges and capacities.

If you are installing in the system beyond their capability, then valves are going to retard before time. Valves that are pushed to their limit and capacity will fail more quickly as you are exposing valves beyond their capability. As you are putting too much pressure and temperature on the valves. In this condition, such pressure valves are going to lose their shape in time. 

Keeping valves clean and in working condition:

To avoid the undue expense, it is better to clean valves after repeated times, it is better to clean valves after every 6 months. If you are dealing with corrosive chemicals, it is better to clean valves after every 3 months. Your cleaning span should be relative to the severity of the problem and substances. Electronic air regulators need proper cleaning and maintenance as dust particles can get entangled in them. 

You can use cloth, wire brush, or lubricant to clean the valve casing. Doing repeated cleaning would ensure a longer life span for your pressure valves. You may need a special chemical or lubricant to avoid rusting the valves, it is better to take care of pressure valves according to their prescription.

Routine valve inspections:

Regular inspections of valves are necessary for keeping valves in proper working condition. Digital pressure regulator valves under high pressure or extreme temperatures should be checked on a weekly or monthly basis. You also need to check the cracks in the valve casing and other faults. In digital pressure valves, the working of the coil and plunger is quite necessary. 

It is the relative motion of the plunger and coil which is opening and closing the electronic pressure regulator valve. When the current is passing through the valves, then the coil is pushing the plunger up, and the valve opens. 

 It is possible that the spring is working properly and not able to push the plunger up and down properly. The routine inspection would keep you aware of any problem, which is going to happen to the pressure valves.

Learn how to detect leakage:

It is better to learn about the maintenance procedure, and pressure valves that are handling compressed air, refrigerants, and other gasses. You can check them simply with a soap and water mixture. Simply you need to spray the mixture on the various portions of the valves to check the leakage. If there appears to be any kind of bubble, then there is leakage in the valve. You need to replace such valves if you are dealing with pungent and corrosive gasses.

The other method of detecting leakage is to use the electronic leak detector. These devices are effective and can spot the thinnest leakage in the digital pressure regulator. It would reduce any risk of error as the electronic leak detector can detect any kind of leak in the system.

Leak detection is one of the most critical parts of the inspection routine. Various valves show different signs of leakage, as valves are used to handle water, acid, and other liquids, leaks are usually relatively easy to spot. If you spot any kind of wetness, try to replace the valves. Most valves show signs of mineral buildup or corrosion on the casing.  


Pressure regulators are critical for the functioning of the whole processing unit. You need to inspect them regularly to reduce maintenance costs, it can be a real business expense if you are not taking care of the safety of the pressure valves.
